Sheri Wilson shares her favorite Roxy & Rich product: our Antique Gold hybrid gloss powder.
Choosing just one product was a real challenge, as there are so many incredible options!
I chose this product because I use it regularly, thanks to its great versatility.
Again and again, I find myself using Roxy & Rich’s Antique Gold Hybrid Lustrous Powder. I’ve searched high and low for edible gloss powders with the perfect golden color and luminance, andAntique Gold is definitely the winner!

What is hybrid gloss powder?
Hybrid Luster Powder gives your edible creations a metallic finish. Roxy & Rich’s water-soluble, mica-based Hybrid Luster Powder is 100% edible. Most of the glosses I’ve used in the past didn’t have the depth of color or shine to create the look of metallic gold. Hybrid Luster Powder is by far my favorite product, and it’s now a staple in my decorating set! It’s free of the 9 major allergens, which means it’s gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, peanut-free, etc. It’s also kosher and vegan/vegetarian, making it a great option for those with dietary restrictions.
Beware of glossy powder “for decorative purposes only” and “non-toxic”.
In the past, I’ve had to use “non-toxic” glosses for my decorations, but having to remove them before serving proved impractical. Choosing “non-toxic” or disco powder over edible luster powder can even lead to metal poisoning. Roxy & Rich is proud to offer only 100% safe, edible products*.
Roxy & Rich’s Antique Gold Hybrid Lustrous Powder has a deep, rich golden color without appearing too yellow or gray, while still giving a slightly antique look. Roxy & Rich also offers many other shades of gold, all of which are gorgeous! In fact, they offer a wide variety of colors in general; there are 64 shades of hybrid lustre powder to choose from, making it the perfect choice for all your sweet creations!
How to use hybrid gloss powder
I useAntique Gold as a dry powder that I sprinkle over chocolate and desserts with a brush to achieve a beautiful shine. The powder can also be mixed with a little alcohol (vodka), lemon extract or water to create a paint. Both applications work very well, producing beautiful results with even coverage.
A great way to use this powder is to paint drops on cakes, and you can also use a brush to make gold flecks appear on cakes, macaroons, chocolate and more!

The product works well for dry brushing on chocolate or painting on buttercream, ganache, waffle paper and even candy! A little trick I like to use is to place chocolates, candies and cherries in a ziplock bag and add 1 teaspoon of Antique Gold Hybrid Gloss Powder before shaking the bag to coat the treat. It’s a very easy way to coat produce without wasting luster. Simply store the bag for future use.
Hybrid gloss powder can be added to nonpareil to create metallic glitter, or used with an airbrush – which I haven’t tried yet but can’t wait to!
